Key Challenges

  1.     Lack of understanding on the Albinism sector among PWA’s, Government institutions and the greater society in Kenya and East Africa region.
  2.     Lack of sufficient capacity and resources in AFEA to effectively respond to the demand for services and education.
  3.     Insufficient data and documented information on Albinism in Kenya and the East African region e.g. no census has been carried out on the population of people with Albinism in Kenya making it difficult to plan effective response.
  4.   High cost of services in health and education, tools and equipments for PWA’s
  5. Retrogressive, cultural beliefs and practices still rampant in the country and the East African region contributing to stigmatization, abuse and discrimination.
